I made a mistake. For many years. I blamed my colleagues who were, in my eyes, under-performing.
And I assumed that they were doing this on purpose. And I was wrong. So very wrong.
Nobody is ‘under-performing’ on purpose. The issue is something completely different.
What my colleagues expect from themselves and their job and the goals in their job just can be very different from my understanding of what it is all about and what should be and should not be.
All I need to do is to make sure that I understand my colleagues on a very profound level and that I make myself understood to them.
This will be the difference between night and day, I believe.
